Post-Convention Season Update
– Thu, Aug 24, 2023 at 12:38:13 PM
Hey folks!
GenCon is over now, and with it, the larger convention season has come to a close. We had a lot of good playtest feedback, and we are excited to implement some things we learned in regards to ushering in a living campaign/convention play with Subversion for years to come.
The good news is that all of this gameplay feedback and convention feedback means that our launch will be much stronger and our convention season next year (once Subversion has launched) will be much smoother.
Now, it is full speed ahead to get Subversion all dressed up nice with proofreading, edits, and finalizations. You should be seeing some flashy page previews soon!

Thanks for all your support and patience with the process!

Progress report and convention season update!
– Tue, Jun 20, 2023 at 08:58:19 PM
Hey folks!
There hasn't been much to report these last two months as we continue playtesting and refining, balancing, and writing. We are currently making our way through all the paradigms, rebalancing and making each paradigm feel unique and robust. Others on the team are working on getting world lore bits together, and we should have a solid rules update in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, we'll be at a few conventions this year. The first, which starts tomorrow, is Origins Games Fair in Columbus, Ohio. We'll be running games of Subversion, helping folks create characters, and learn the game. There are still slots available, so if you are going, sign up and join us! We'll be doing the same events in August as well at GenCon in Indianapolis, Indiana, so come and say hi!
If you want to have your say in how the game develops, make sure to join us on our discord server here: https://discord.gg/vcxXHW5.
I'll be bringing an art update soon and the rules update soon as well. Thanks for all your support!

Subversion Update #14: A mild update
– Tue, Apr 25, 2023 at 12:12:02 PM
Hey folks!
There isn't much in this update other than to say over 80% of you have completed the backerkit survey so far! For those who have pledged for physical rewards, the survey is necessary to get your shipping info, etc. so we can lock in numbers and make our roadmap for the future of fulfillment. We are planning on locking the pledge manager on May 6, 11 days from now, so if you haven't completed the survey, we'd love it if you did! But, for those of you who are tempted to feel shame if you don't complete it by then, there isn't anything bad that will happen. I'll just keep bugging you to fill it out until you do.
My heart still breaks for those 2 people who have still not filled out their backerkit survey for Gangs of the Undercity a few years ago. Their rewards are just sitting there, sad, because they can't be sent out if we don't know where to send them. So try to make some time.
If you haven't received the backerkit emails, please check your spam folder or just PM me and I'll resend it or get you a direct link. Thanks, folks!

Backerkit Pledge Manager is live!
– Wed, Apr 19, 2023 at 10:05:20 AM
Great news! The Backerkit pledge manager is live! We sent out a smoke test to 5% of you last week, and things seem to have gone smoothly! Then, we sent out the rest, and you have been responding!
Pledge Manger
As noted in previous updates, we are hoping to get all of our backers to have completed the pledge manager by May 6, just so we can make sure we have an over abundance of time and accurate numbers to get everything right. If it it getting close to the end mark, and you haven't locked in your pledge yet, expect numerous emails from us, just so we can make sure there are no glitches in getting you what you pledged for! But at the end of the day, if you just can't swing it, please let us know and we'll see what we can do.
If you have any questions, please reach out. Otherwise, have fun with the add-ons!
If you haven't received an email inviting you to the Backerkit pledge manager, first check your email spam filters, and if you still can't find it, please reach out as soon as possible.
Late Pledges
One of the cool things with Backerkit is late pledges, so if you know any one who missed the Kickstarter, or know of someone you want to play Subversion with, invite them to pre-order and get in on the action! Here's the link you can send them: https://subversion.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
Small Shipping Hiccup for Non-North American Backers
A few of you have let us know that the calculations for add-ons outside of North America seems a bit high. Some of that is out of our hands, but we did check and realized that especially for the maps, shipping is a bit high. Since backerkit will not let us change the shipping costs after folks have already selected items, we'd like to offer those of you outside of North America who are ordering maps, if you would like a discount on your shipping for map related add-ons, we'd be happy to discuss that and give a manual discounted shipping for you. That isn't the most elegant solution, but we'd love for everyone to get what they want without more hassle. Thanks for your understanding, folks.
Thank you so much for all your support! Things are looking great!

Pledge manager delay and Hellslayers
– Tue, Apr 11, 2023 at 10:13:02 AM
Hey folks,
We expected the pledge manager to be up and running by now, which is why I haven't posted. I kept assuming "today's the day," but it hasn't happened yet. Backerkit won't allow pledge managers to go live until creators have paid for their pre-and-during-campaign services. And since kickstarter waits two weeks to send campaign funds, and since it takes X days for a bank to process those deposits, and since it apparently is taking a few more days for Backerkit's bank to process those funds, we are just bottlenecked a bit. Nothing concerning, but it is making the process a bit longer than expected.
Well, I do have something kinda exciting to share.
Hellslayers
Fragging Unicorns is going to be launching another game soon called Hellslayers. You can watch an actual play of Hellslayers tonight at 7pm EST @ https://m.twitch.tv/masterofrem.
I think its worth explaining why Fragging Unicorns is launching another game so soon after Subversion's campaign wrapped up, and why this game (a Mork Borg hack with a DOOM-like space demons theme) fits the kind of game space that Fagging Unicorns normally operates in. Well, the answer is simple. When the core team of Fragging Unicorns makes games (like Gangs of the Undercity, MIsspent Youth, Subversion), we have certain themes that we like to lift up, such as direct action, revolution, justice, community, etc. But writing games with those themes is only half the battle. The other half is living out those themes in our day-to-day. So when one of our community - Clifton Lambert (Arcology Podcast, Fall In Love, Not In Line) says they want to make a Mork Borg hack with a Doom theme, while it isn't traditionally Fragging Unicorns fare, supporting our community member and friend in the game they want to make, is very much one of our values. We love the idea of supporting indy creators who we know share the same heart we do. Plus, Hellslayers will feature your protagonists being able to punch and shoot demons of injustice, so... That's cool. Hellslayers is not as large a project as Subversion, so it won't be taking any of our resources away from Subversion. It is all Cliff working on it in their spare time. I hope you enjoy the actual play, and if you're interested in learning more as time goes on, click here to stay informed.
